FAQs

What is counselling?

Counselling is a form of "talking therapy" where a trained professional assists you in working through personal problems in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment.

A counsellor does not provide answers but instead supports you in identifying issues, exploring options, developing coping strategies, and gaining clarity to achieve your goals and enhance your mental health and well-being.

Counselling can take place in various formats, including one-on-one sessions, couples counselling, family therapy, or group sessions. It is accessible in person, by phone, or online.

Typically I allow sixty minutes for your session.

  • Manage difficult life events: Cope with things like bereavement, relationship breakdown, or work-related stress.

  • Deal with emotional struggles: Work through emotions such as depression, anxiety, anger, or low self-esteem.

  • Address specific problems: Tackle issues like troublesome habits, relationship conflicts, or identity-related concerns.

  • A safe space: A confidential setting to talk about your troubles, feelings, and insecurities without judgment.

  • Guided support: Having a professional listen to your issues and help make sense of it all.

  • New perspectives: Helps you gain a better understanding of your situation and how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours impact your daily life.

  • Tools for coping: Learn new skills for coping and strategies to manage challenging emotions and situations.

  • Goal-oriented outcomes: Collaborating with your counsellor to set and achieve specific goals. These can be for personal growth, decision-making, or for a specific issue.

I use what is known as a person centred approach, which simply means your the complete focus of what I do. Its all about you.
